Accessibility
Adopting these web standards demonstrates that I am being forward thinking and proactive in the way I treat visitors to my site, and hope in the future other businesses will follow my example.
Access Keys
Most browsers support jumping to specific links by typing keys defined on the web site. On Windows, you can press ALT + an access key; on Mac, you can press Control + an access key.
All pages on this site define the following access keys:
- Access key 1 - Home
- Access key 2 - About
- Access key 3 - Services
- Access key 4 - Contact
- Access key 7 - Terms & Conditions
- Access key 8 - Privacy Statement
- Access key 9 - Site map
- Access key 0 - Accessibility
On a Windows operating system using Internet Explorer, you are required to press Return/Enter after the desired access key.
Web Standards
I believe the content on my website should be accessible to anyone regardless of disabilities, circumstances or browser technology.
By using a core set of standards, commonly known as "web standards", and by choosing to keep accessibility in mind while designing this site I have increased usability and increased the potential audience that can access the web site's content.
